Courageous Leaders Retreat

Building Toward a Collaborative Culture Focused on Accelerating Student Achievement

This two-day program is designed to support the role of principals in how to build and support effective learning communities. Administrators are introduced to the Failure Is Not an Option® Six Principles and how they work together as a system to leverage existing professional development and school improvement resources. Administrators will explore how to build collective responsibility for student success and to identify their existing structures that can support a learning community. They will also incorporate their own professional experiences combined with the content from this workshop into a plan of action for their particular school.

The Failure Is Not an Option® (FNO) Six Principles That Guide Student Achievement are:

  • Common Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals
  • Ensuring Achievement for All Students: Systems for Prevention and Intervention
  • Collaborative Teaming Focused on Teaching and Learning
  • Using Data to Guide Decision Making and Continuous Improvement
  • Gaining Active Engagement from Family and Community
  • Building Sustainable Leadership Capacity

Conducted by a HOPE Faculty consultant on-site in your district, the essential questions that guide this program include:

  • How do our current beliefs and practices align with the FNO Six Principles?
  • What is our role as leaders in the process of supporting high impact professional development focused on improved classroom instruction?
  • How can we guide our learning communities toward self-governance?
  • How can we build the commitment to change at our school sites?
