Ingrid Carney
Dr. Ingrid Carney, Ph.D., is the Founder and CEO of Carney for Kids Educational Consulting. Carney for Kids specializes in Executive Leadership Coaching, School and District improvement, the 10 Boys Initiative to close achievement gaps, as well as customized workshops.
Dr. Carney has a long and distinguished career in public education reform spanning nearly 38 years. She most recently served as Deputy Superintendent for Clusters and School Leaders for Boston Public Schools from 2005 – 2008. She was directly responsible for the improvement of teaching and learning in 45 schools in a diverse group of Boston communities, serving 17,300 K-12 students.
In nearly 30 years with the Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Carney, served as teacher, team leader, effective schools facilitator, training center coordinator and principal.
Her work as a leader in urban education includes consulting with schools, school districts, boards of education and professional organizations across the country. Dr. Carney earned a BA in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, a MA in Educational Leadership from Chicago State University, and a doctorate in Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Carney graduated from the prestigious BROAD Superintendents Academy in 2007. She served as President of the Illinois Staff Development Council and is Past President of the Board of Trustees for the National Staff Development Council.
